In the largest financial commitment in many years, Trevor Dickinson, Managing Director of A-EON, announced his company's commitment to invest $1.2 million USD in testing and manufacturing the latest Amiga PPC hardware. The new mainboard, named the Cyrus Plus, will make use of the latest PPC processors (including one one its way to market) in its design.
Partner Amigakit are making arrangements worldwide for distribution of the new boards. Interested parties should contact Amigakit through their website, amigakit.com.
We applaud this amazing news that gives new energy to the Amiga market. Thank you, A-EON and Amigkit, for continuing the Amiga legacy for future generations.

As is customary at AmiWest, the dates for the coming year were announced at the conclusion of the show. October 23-24, 2014 will be the third AmiWest Programming Seminar, and October 24-26, 2014 will be the AmiWest show dates. AmiWest 2014 will be the 17th AmiWest show.
Our venue remains the same at the Holiday Inn Express, 2224 Auburn Blvd., Sacramento, CA. This venue was our partner in a great AmiWest 2013 and we have no doubt that they will also be our "get it done" partner in 2014 as well.
So the dates are reserved and you can begin to plan for AmiWest 2014. Remember that no one is turned away and that all are welcome to exhibit and sponsor AmiWest. We will shortly make information available regarding these topics on amiwest.net so you can become involved as well.

AmiWest 2013 Show Schedule
Here are our show events for AmiWest 2013, presented by the
Sacramento Amiga Computer Club (SACC). As important as this
schedule is, interacting with our sponsors and exhibitors is also
a very important part of AmiWest. And there are always the
AmiWest surprises - spontaneous and unplanned, they are a great
part of what makes our show creative and fun! Catching up with
friends and making new ones is another big reason why AmiWest is a
success year after year. What we do is provide the place - it's
the people that make the show!
Many thanks to our show sponsors and exhibitors. Please be sure
to patronize their exhibits, do business with them, and thank them
for their support.
Friday, October 18th: Doors open at 6 PM for the Classic
Clinic
Our traditional Classic Clinic will provide an opportunity for
those who want to have their classic Amiga machines updated in
some way to receive assistance from experienced technicians. If
you are interested in bringing your machine, please let us know by
emailing what you are bringing and the assistance that you need to
amigaprez@amiwest.net.
Free food will be served, as long as it lasts!

the evening is Eldee Stephens, microprocessor designer for IBM, on
the viability of Power Architecture. A panel discussion will
follow, including Mr. Stephens, Steven Solie, Trevor Dickinson,
and long-time Amigans and AmiWest attendees Alan Swithenbank and
Fred Wright. Discussion is lively and continues. . .

In a new AmiWest record, 47 nights had been sold at the our hotel
venue by last week. We were told today that the AmiWest rate was
no longer available, i.e., that the rooms at that rate had sold
out.
So we called the hotel and told them to reserve 100 nights for
AmiWest 2013. Checking the official Holiday Inn Express website
at https://www.ihg.com/holidayinnexpress/hotels/us/en on Monday,
October 7, 2013, the AmiWest rate is now available again. Be sure
that you are on the official Holiday Inn Express website and not
some other booking site. Other booking sites do not have the
AmiWest rate available at $76.00 per night, double occupancy, with
free breakfast and free WiFi.
Apparently a lot of people are coming to AmiWest. Be one of them.
Be sure to book your room and banquet ticket NOW! If, perchance,
you do not see the AmiWest rate, call the hotel at 1-916-923-1100
and tell them you're with AmiWest 2013. You'll get the same rate.
See you next week!

On the Hyperion blog, Steven Solie said:
"AmigaOS fans may have noticed an abundance of updates appearing
lately. There is also an updated SDK should be appearing soon as
well.
One of the reasons for all this activity is AmiWest 2013. The show
itself is October 19 and 20. There is also a “Classic Clinic” on
the Friday night before the show where Amiga technicians will be
available to help get your Amigas up and running again. AmiWest is
also featuring a programming conference from October 16 to 18. The
plan is to continue where we left off at AmiWest 2012 and focus on
building useful applications with a GUI. It is the programming
conference which is driving the bulk of the updates. We want
everyone to be at the same API level and have all the latest
updates so we don’t waste any time on working around any fixed
bugs (for example).
Many AmigaOS core developers and beta testers will be attending
AmiWest 2013. This is your chance to chat face to face with the
experts that are building and maintaining the genuine Amiga
Operating System. Hyperion Entertainment is also sponsoring the
show and will have a table setup with various AmigaOS-based
systems on display. See you there!"
